I Organized A Speaking Contest It Was A Piece Of Cake

I am a member of Toastmasters. It is an organization where you learn how to speak in public.

I have recently become Area Governor. With this position comes responsibility.

I recently organized a speaking contest for my area. I had been to contests in the past but not being a participant I did not really pay attention to the program.

When it came time for me to MC the contest along with our wonderful Toastmaster I was at a loss. I did not know what was expected of me.

Last night I went to another contest just to enjoy the show. It was well organized and the Area Governor did a wonderful job. I learned from watching the entire contest and now when I put on next next contest in 6 months I will know immediately my responsibilities in front of the podium.

This is how we all learn by watching and observing others. I am not going to dwell on the fact that I could have been better, I know I will be better next time.

Thanks for writing this article, it’s inspiring. We do indeed learn by “watrching and observing others.”
